Francis John Bushby emigrated from London at the beginning of 1865 after finding it impossible to obtain work there. His time in Australia was frustating and disappointing- the country was in a financial crisis and after working as a carpenter in Brisbane, Toowoomba and Sydney he decided to return to England.
